Version 0.2 is live!

Hey all! Version 0.2 is here!

I made some changes after some internal testing and feedback from proofreader Rickard Elimää. Some highlights off the top of my head:

  • Structure of Play due to popular demand.
  • Clarified how to interact with props.
  • Added the push roll mechanic.
    • Used for damage in combat instead of stamina.
    • Used for AOE attacks.
    • Used for challenges that extend over more than one turn.
  • Renamed some terms, merged some terms that had been referred to as separate concepts before.
  • Killed some darlings.
  • Moved around some sections for better readability.

Roadmap

I've said this before, but I really need to stop updating the game until I've seen the current version playtesting. Don't want to be building over a shaky foundation.

  • Will create a handful of named NPCs to use in example plays and examples, and possibly commission art for each.
  • Will write a list of recommended gear, mostly neat weapons and tools.
  • Not sure how to do this with the whole cyberpunk aesthetic but I'd lie to incorporate some visual aids, like a diagram explaining dice mechanics, and a few example "character files" showing how to organize a combination of scratch paper and index cards.
  • Cover art by a human artist.

What's next?

I think once I've completed the game and version 1.0 is out in the wild, I will move on to adapting CoReS to other genres. I have mentioned before that this system was made for a fantasy game, but I decided to start with Cyberpunk for playtest purposes.  Lately I've also been dreaming up a Solarpunk version as well.
